A river delta is a landform that forms from deposition of sediment carried by a river as the flow leaves its mouth and enters slower-moving or stagnant water.

examples-The Mississippi Delta, Louisianna, The Nile, Egypt, Lough Leanne, Kerry.

Delta is formed when river reaches sea and it deposited the alluvial sediments in edge of the sea so these region are highly fertile in character like Ganga-Brahmaputra delta, Krishna-Godavari delta, and Kaveri delta. Tanjore is the rice bowl of south India due to Kaveri delta. Mississippi delta is the example of bird foot delta which is shaped like bird’s foot. Arcuate delta formed in the Nile and Ganga river’s delta region which formed numerous tributaries. Cuspate delta is formed in the Amazon and Ob river.
