Land degradation is a process in which the value of the biophysical environment is affected by a combination of human-induced processes acting upon the land.

Well, it is caused by soil water erosion, wind erosion, loss of nutrients, physical deterioration and salinization.

Land degradation can be controlled by gardening, planting vegetation etc.

Answer:

Land degradation is the degradation of the quality of the land by processes human does on them.

Causes:

1) Mining:Mining increases the burden on the land. Moreover, the land after completion of excavation work are left unattended causing further damage.

2) Deforestation:It causes soil erosion, which in turn degrades the land

3) Industries:The industrial effluents degrade the quality of land

4)Over irrigation:Over irrigation causes water logging which reduces the percolation capacity of the soil.

5) Building Infrastructure

Measures to control land degradation:

1) Afforestation

2) Building machines that break the wind i.e.,their flow

3) Practicing sustainability

4)Gardening

5)Using organic fertilizers
