In physics , Latent heat is defined as the heat liberated or absorbed by a substance as it changes phase at a constant temperature and pressure.

latent heat is nothing but the heat which is hidden hidden state. that may be absorbed or emits by the substance
it is of 2 types
latent heat of fusion and latent heat of vaporization
latent heat of fusion: when the temperature went to 0, if it still in cool but we cant see the fall of temperature in it. we can observe only upto 0 degree centigrade. the remaining is in the form of latent heat. this is called latent heat of fusion
similarly after reaching the temperature upto 100 degrees centigrade, we cant find more reading although we applying heat. that remaining unnotable reading is hide away. it is called latent heat of vaporization

Anonymous: which one

skyrose: The heat required to convert a solid into a liquid or vapor, or a liquid into a vapor, without change of temperature - correct right?
