The major group of Dense Connective tissue contain the yellow connective elastic tissue which are the tissues mainly made up of much thicker types of branded loose network of yellow fibres. The white fibres also are occurring in it but they are very fine structure wise. The fibroblasts are irregularly scattered in these tissues. It is also containing potential of mast cells, macrophages and often some adipose cells.
Yellow fibrous cords contain the yellow elastic connective tissues which further forms cords called ligaments, which are responsible for joining bones to bones. Yellow elastic connective tissue which has a remarkably considerable strength and high amounts of elasticity thus, it allows the stretching of various organs and allows the smoothness of synovial fluid. Many years old "mummies" still have their highly elastic arteries intact in place due to their well preserved elastic fibres. Sprain is the phenomenon which is also caused due to excessive pulling of the muscles and the stretching of the ligaments.
