It seems the question is dated and proves that the questioner is living in a time capsule of heady years of Modi Regime and is still believing in RHETORIC spread across.

It seems the writing on the wall which is bold and dark about the failure of Make in India initiative is not visible to people who still believe thst MAKE IN INDIA is making some difference in India.

The Failure is best articulated today( July 2nd 2018) in The Time Of India editorial under heading : “SLIP IS SHOWING”

I would like to share few points highlighted in this editorial:

“Few Indians may have heard of Yiwu, a city in China’s Zhejiang province. Nevertheless, the city has a strong Indian connection. Yiwu is a manufacturing hub which makes figurines of Ganesha sold in India’s markets.

There is a strong possibility that the Yiwu phenomenon is widespread.

This phenomenon encapsulates a challenge confronting Indian manufacturing: it’s struggling to even make for India, let alone make in India for other markets.

India’s merchandise trade deficit over the last four years, after excluding oil and gold transactions, has widened. It hasn’t yet dented current account deficit because of a benign phase in oil and commodity prices. But the tide may be turning.

Stripped of oil and gold, India’s trade deficit in 2013-14 was less than $1 billion. Last financial year it was $53.30 billion. In relative terms, it increased to around 2% of GDP

During this period, India’s investment demand has been anaemic. Therefore, big picture data suggests that Indian manufacturing is not just losing its competitive edge in exports, it may have lost ground at home too.

All of this translates into fewer jobs for youth trying to leave a beleaguered agricultural sector, and attendant social and political frictions.”
