The limbic system is a set of brain structures located on both sides of the thalamus, immediately beneath the cerebrum.[1] It has also been referred to as the paleomammalian cortex.

Limbic system:
A ring of structures on inner side of cerebrum and floor of diencephalon constitutes the limbic system.
Some of the neural structures of limbic system are hippocampus and amygdala.
Limbic system is commonly known as “emotional brain” because it plays an important role in regulation of sexual behavior and expression of emotional reactions like excitement, pleasure, rage and fear.
