Emil Fischer proposed lock and key model in 1890.according to this one particular keey can open one specific lock,in the same manner a specific emzyme can transform only one substrate into products.
it says that active site is a rigid structure.it is used as a template and there is no flexibility or modification in active site before,during or after the enzyme action
