lymphatic system acts as body's defense mechanism. it consists of primary lymphoid organs like thymus gland and bone marrow a d secondary lymphoid organs or tissues like spleen, tonsils, payer's patches etc. the circulatory fluid in lymphatic system is lymph which contains certain nutrients, hormones and cells called lymphocytes which are produced by primary lymphoid organs and develops in secondary lymphoid organs. there are 2 types of lymphocytes - B lymphocytes and T lymphocytes. B lymphocytes produced and developed in bone marrow and T lymphocytes produced in bone marrow and developed in thymus gland. B lymphocytes provide humoral(antibodies) mediated immunity and T lymphocytes provides cell mediated immunity which is responsible for rejection during cell grafting or organ transplantation. B lymphocytes provide support for the development of T lymphocytes. the lymphatic system consists of a network of nodes called lymphatic nodes which traps microorganisms and other organisms. the lymph circulates through a network of vessels called lymphatic vessels through which substances gets exchanged and excretes waste products. the cancer of lymphatic system is lymphoma
