Good morning friend...

Mesmeric Effect :-

when resonance is applied to a conjugated pie - system electron flow from one end to the order. This is called as mesmeric effect

this effect is of two types....

(1)+M effect :-

-------------------------------

In this case an atom or group donates electron to the conjugated pie system. So it is called as +M effect.

some electron donating group are :-

-OH, -Cl, -Br, -I, -NH2 etc.

(2) -M Effect :-

---------------------------------------

When an atom or group withdraw electron towards itself from the conjugated pie system through resonance. It is called as
