Macromolecules

(large size molecules )

A very large sized molecules made up of different atom and having complex shape, higher molecular weight . organic in nature like Protein ( made of 20 different amino acids ) ,polysaccharides ( form of Carbohydrates) nucleic acid etc. such that macromolecules are also knows as polymers which is made up of many other monomers.

Information

- There are four main types of macromolecules (carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids)

and the function of these macromolecules are

Protein :- Repair body , structural support, transport, enzymes, movement, defense and energy to anything we need protein.

Carbohydrates :- main source to get energy ,like Store energy, provide fuel, and build structure in body, main source of energy, structure of plant cell wall.

Lipids :- maintaining the health , like energy storage, insulation ( insulator ) and stores fat

Nucleic acid :- most important macromolecules for the continuity of life because they contain genetic blueprint, help by storing and transferring.

- the main difference between macromolecules and Micromolecules is that macromolecule i.e., polymer is comprised of micromolecule i.e., monomers, like proteins are macromolecules which is made up of 20 different Micromolecules that is amino acids linked together by peptide bonds.
