What is macronutrients and why are they called macronutrients

The nutrients are mainly absorbed by the roots along with water from the soil. Some of them are required in large quantities so they are called macronutrients. Some others are needed in required quantities so the are called micronutrients.
examples of macronutrients:
Nitrogen, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium.
examples of micronutrients:
Iron, Maganese, Zinc

Macronutrients are essential elements which are required by plants in major quantities. Some of the Macronutrients are -
(1) N, P, S which are present in proteins.
(2) CA is present in cell wall.
