Magma is molten rock found below the earth's surface. The temperature at which a rock melts is affected by its composition, pressure and water.

The hot liquid rock that lies in huge underground pockets of the the earth is called magma.The magma is pushed upward by the pressure of other rocks around it.Some of it hardens below the surface of earth while some flows on the surface of earth and then hardens to form igneous rocks.The magma when reaches to the surface of earth is called lava.
