When current is past through the solenoid the magnetic field is produced. The magnetic field patterns produced by the solenoid is very similar to that of a bar magnet and it acts just like a bar magnet having North and South poles. The solenoid produce string magnetic field are used for some applications such as Transformers, relay and circuit breakers, etc.

Solenoid is a helexd shaped conducting coil of insulated copper wire.
It generate magnetic field as a bar magnet.
