what is majoritarianism? how it has led to allegation of maniorty community in sri lanka.

When the majority group gains control being in majority suppressing feelings n interests of the minority it is called majoritariarism. In srilanka the majority sinhala groups formed the govt. and launched policies in favour of the sinhalas . the tamils protested n formed parties and they demanded for an independent tamil elam (state). and lead to clashes between the 2 groups . many of the both communities were killed.

Majoritarianism is something in which the majority people's opinion is taken into conserdation

This led to alienation of Sri Lanka tamils as Sri Lanka gave importance to majority sinhalese people and did everything in favour of them and gave them all facilities while tamils were not given any significance so tamils felt alienated
