MALLEABILITY : The physical property of metals in which, metals can be beaten into thin sheets. (Metals are malleable)

Now,

Lets try an activity :

Take a small piece of zinc metal (zinc granule) and strike it with a hammer.

What is the obersevation?

It is observed that the zinc piece spreads a little and becomes thinner, but it doesn't break.

But,

Non - metals are non - malleable, they cannot be beaten into thin sheets.

Non - metals are brittle, they break into pieces when hammered.
