Anything that occupies space and have mass is called matter.
✪ Properties of Solid :
1. Particles of solid have least intermolecular space and high intermolecular force of attraction.
2. This is why they have fixed shape and volume and have negligible compressibility.
✪ Properties of liquid :
1. Particles of solid have enough intermolecular space and less intermolecular force of attraction.
2. This is why they don't have fixed shape but fixed volume volume and can be compressed.

1. Ice at 0°C has looses all of its heat and thus will try to absorb all heat from your palm and this latent heat to become water. This is why Ice will be more effective in cooling than the water at 0°C which will not absorb all heat from your palm.
2. During fever the head of suffrer heats up and when wet strip of cloth is kept on forehead then the water dropelts gains heat and evaporates to leave cooling effect and the person feels better.

The latent heat absorbed by ice is greater than the heat absorbed at water at the same temperature. Thus, ice appears cold to mouth than water.
2)
hen a person has fever, his body temperature becomes more than the normal body temperature. If we put the wet stripe of the cloth on his forehead, the water evaporates and absorbs the heat from his body that causes cooling and lowers his body temperature. That is why, Doctors advise us to put wet stripes on the forehead of a person having high fever.
