1. On 4th May 1919, movement called "May Fourth Movement" aroused from a protest in Beijing against the decisions of the Versailles Peace Conference.

2. People protested against the injustice done to china in this conference,by not returning the country's land seized by Japan during the war.This was in spite of the fact that China was on the side of the victorious Great Britain.

3.The prime intent of this movement was to eliminate the old tradition and to modernize China with fresh ideas like science, democracy and nationalism.
