The arithmetic mean or mean of a sample  is the sum of the sampled values divided by the number of items in the sample:

median
if it is even then
y = no of terms term/2 and y+1
if it is odd = (no of terms+1)/2

The mean is the arithmetic average
= Total of the numbers/no of observations


The median is the middle value of all the frequency

if even then 
a= no of terms term/2   and a+1
if odd
= (no of terms+1)/2
