Geothermal energy is energyderived from the heat of the earth. The earth's centre is a distance of approximately 4000 miles and is so hot that it is molten. Temperatures are understood to be at least 5000 degrees centigrade.

Geo means earth and thermal means heat. So geothermal energy means the energy obtained from the heat inside the earth. Our earth has three layers-core, mantle and crust. The mantle has hot magma which is molten rocks and this magma sometimes pushes up into the crust and this heats up the water present underground. This heating of the water causes it to rise up due to the pressure and this water escapes the crust in the form of geysers and steam. The hot water from the geysers are used to produce steam and this is used to turn the turbines which in turn produces electricity. This form of energy is very efficient as there is no pollution and no waste products or remnants.

HOPE THIS HELPS YOU.............
