  • Probiotics, meaning " for life " in Greek, became the term for the bacteria that was found in fermented products. As per World Health Organisation, these bacterias are defined as " living microorganisms, which when administered in adequate amounts, confer a health benefit on the person consuming it ". In simple terms, probiotics are " good bacteria " that are needed in the gut and their presence could result in a lot of health benefits, including infections. Good bacteria in the gut break down carbohydrates to create 10 percent of our daily energy. This also helps the body fight infection and diseases by combating the effect of the bad bacteria. The two main types of bacterias considered to be probiotic include strains from the Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium genera.
