Water of crystallization is the fixed number of water molecules present in one formula unit of a salt.

When we heat copper sulphate in china dish, the blue coloured crystals changes into a white powder due to the removal of 5 molecules of water of crystallization.

Answer:

water of crystallisation is a fixed number of water molecules present in one formula unit of a salt. one formula unit of copper sulphate contains five water molecules . the water molecules which from part of the structure of a crystal are called crystallization. when hydrated salts are heated strongly, they lose their water of crystallisation

on strong heating , blue copper sulphate crystals turn white (due to the loss of water of crystallization)

CuSO4.5H2O__heat____ CuSo4 + H2O

anhydrous copper sulphate turns blue on adding water.

CuSO4 +5H2O-_____CuSO4.5H2O
