A compound is a substance made up of a definite proportion of two or more elements. A chemical formula tells us the number of atoms of each element in a compound. It contains the symbols of the atoms of the elements present in the compound as well as how many there are for each element in the form of subscripts.
Eg:-
Each type of chemical formula provides different information about a chemical compound. The empirical formula gives us the simplest ratio of atoms of the elements in a compound. The molecular formula tells us the actual number of atoms for each element that is present in a compound.

hey mate here is your answer
Chemical Formula and Equations. For example, the chemical formula for water is H2O which indicates that 2atoms of Hydrogen combines with 1 atom of oxygen. The chemical formula for sodium chloride (Salt) is NaCl indicating that one atom of sodium combines with one atom of chlorine in a one-to-one ratio.
