Chemical formula is a representation which shows the no. of of atoms or molecules in a compound.

For example, in CH₄ there is one atom of carbon and 2 molecules ( H₂ ) or 4 atoms ( H ) of hydrogen to form Methane.

There is no chemical formula for a element. But there is a symbol for each element to represent it.
