What is meant by a precipitation reaction ? Explain by giving an example. Also give
balanced chemical equation for the reaction stating the states of the reactions and the products formed .

a reaction in which an insoluble substance called precipitate is formed is known as precipitation reaction.
example:
when a solution of silver nitrate is added to a solution of sodium chloride, a white precipitate of silver chloride is formed.
AgNO3 + NaCl -> AgCl + NaNO3

example:
when a solution of silver nitrate is added to a solution of sodium chloride, a white curry precipitate of silver chloride is formed.
AgNO3 + NaCl -> AgCl + NaNO3
BaCl2(aq)+ Na2SO4 (aq)------- BaSO4(s) + NaCl (aq)
