.In chemistry, allotropy is the existence of two or more different physical forms of a chemical element

e g   carbon has three common allotropes: diamond, where the carbon atoms are bonded together in a tetrahedral lattice arrangement, andgraphite, where the carbon atoms are bonded together in sheets of a hexagonal lattice and the
buckministerfullerene.(buckyball)
