Atom is the smallest particle of an element in nature which can freely exist on its own and can take part in any different types of chemical reactions.
Atoms are made up of three subatomic particles:
1. Protons
They are the positively charged particles in the nucleus of the atom.
2. Electrons
They are negatively charged particles which revolve in paths around the nucleus of the atom
3. Neutrons
They are the neutral particles having no charge in the nucleus of the atom.
An atom as a whole is electrically neutral.
Hope it helps !!!
