Dutch in Java, were first rented on the land being cultivated in the forest and then some villages were exempt from these rentals, if they were working collectively to provide free labor for cutting and transporting. It was known as the Blondondenstein system. Later it was replaced with small wages, but still the right to cultivate their land was restricted.

the Dutch first imposed rents on land being cultivated in the forest and then exempted some villages from these rents it they worked collectively to provide free labour and buffaloes from cutting and transporting timber thi was known as the blandongdiensten system later instead of rant exempted forest villagers were given small wages but their right to cultivate forest land was restricted.
