what is meant by destarching ? why does do plants get destarched when kept in continuous darkness for about 48 hours

Destarching refers to removal of starch (form in which plant stores energy) from a plant. When a plant is kept in darkness, due to lack of sunlight it starts to utilize its starch. Therefore in 48 hours plant gets destarched.
