In a colloidal solution if electric current is given across two platinum electrodes then there will be movement of colloidal particles to the one or to the other electrode because of the charge present in them that movement due to charge is known as electrophoresis.
Some important points:-
1. If movement of particles is seen towards cathode then it is called as cataphoresis.
2. In case the movement of particles is seen towards anode then it is known as anaphoresis.
3. It is a process or we can say that it is a experimental proof which tell us that charge is present on colloidal particles.
