The point at which the light rays meet is called the focal point. The focal length is found by focussing a distant object on a piece of paper through the lens. The focal length is the distancebetween the centre of the lens and the image. A converging lens is used in a refracting telescope to focus the image.

The point on principle axis where all the light rays converge after refraction through the lens is called focus and the distance between focus and the optic centre is called focal length of a converging lens.
