In biology a haploid cell is that cell in which genetic material(chromosomes) are present but half in number. For example take Sperm cell or Ova cell in these cell chromosomes are present but half in number. Human somatic cell contains 46 chromosomes whereas human sperm or ova cell contains 23 chromosomes(pairs)

In biology,Hapliod is the term used when a cell has half the usual number of chromosomes. A normal eukaryotic organism is composed of diploid cells, one set of chromosomes from each parent. However, after meiosis, the number of chromosomes in gametes is halved.And those cells are called Haploid Cells.

Haploid cells are those cells which have half the number of actual chromosomes .
That is somatic cells of human body have 46 chromosomes but haploid cells like gametes both male as well as female only have 23 chromosomes i.e half the number of actual chromosomes.
