An intermediate goods  is a product used to produce a final good  or finished product. These good  are sold between industries for resale or the production of other goods. One example  of an intermediate good is salt, a product  that is directly consumed but also used to manufacture food products.

Intermediate goods refers to those goods which are used up in producing final goods and services . They are not ready for use by the consumers as some value has to be added to them .

For example  :-

Farmer sells Wheat (Rs. 10/kg)  →  Miller sells Flour (Rs.12/kg)  →  Baker sells Bread (Rs. 15/packet)  →  Consumers .

Here ,  wheat and flour are intermediate goods .

The value of final goods already includes the value of  all the intermediate goods that are used in making the final good .
