The chemical bond formed by transfer of electrons from one atom to another is known as ionic bond.

The type of bond in which a metal losses electron/s and a non-metal accepts the electron/s to to complete it's octet state and aquires positive and negative charges known as ions is known as ionic bond.
e.g Na ---> Na+
Cl ---> Cl-

Na+ + Cl- ---> Nacl
