Isomers are the elements of the same molecular formula, but different structural formula. They may have the same formula but their structures are quite different.
The first three members of the alkane series can't have isomers since in whatever way you arrange them, they will have the same structural formula.

Isomerism is the existence of 2 or more compounds having same molecular formula but different structures.
First 3 members of alkane series don't show isomerism because only one structure is possible for those compounds.
