Latent heat of fusion is the heat energy required to convert 1 kg of a solid into liquid whereas latent heat of vaporisation is the heat energy required to convert 1 kg of a liquid to vapour.
During melting or boiling, the heat energy provided is taken by the particles as latent heat to overcome the force of attraction between r them.
