what is meant by melting point. how is it different from fusion?

The changing of solid state into liquid state is fusion while the minimum temperature at which the solid state changes into liquid state at normal atmospheric pressure is called its melting point. When thermal energy is withdrawn from a liquid or solid, the temperature falls.
