Metals are elements which are electropositive in nature .They produce a ringing sound when struck(sonorous).They are good conductors of heat and electricity.They are shiny(lustrous) in nature.Examples:Sodium,Iron etc.

Non-Metals are elements which are electronegative in nature .They do not produce a ringing sound when struck(non-sonorous).They are generally bad conductors of heat and electricity.They are not shiny in nature.Examples:Carbon,Oxygen etc.

Metal is a solid material which conduct heat & electricity ,hard, shiny, malleable, fusible, and ductile. Nonmetal is a substance that do not exhibit properties of metals such as hardness, luster, malleability ,ductility and the ability to conduct electricity.
