Metternich, the chancellor of Austria through his system or arrangement commonly known as the Metternich System sought to preserve the settlement made in the Vienna Congress. The objectives of the system were: Preservation of the arrangements made in the Vienna Congress, Hostility to Liberalism and Nationalism and preservation of Monarchy.
