A PAN (Permanent Account Number) is a 10-digit alphanumeric unique code issued by the Income tax Department, under the Indian Income Tax Act, 1961 to a person who applies for it.

The PAN card carries the name of the individual, along with the Date of birth details. It can be used as an important identification proof, for tax deduction, opening a bank account, for receiving taxable salary etc.

Once it is applied for, people can track the status of their PAN card online. However, there have been many complaints from people regarding the details on the PAN card, which read as “No records for provided details”.

This could possibly due to incorrect entry of the person’s name, surname, or middle name, or date of birth details etc.

A Permanent Account Number (PAN) is a 10 digit alphanumeric distinct number that is given to individuals by the Income Tax Department. A person has to apply for it for it to be issued. This is usually under the supervision of the Central Board of Direct Taxes.

It also serves as an identity proof because it contains the name of the individual and the Date of Birth.

The pan card is issued and is mandatory in India to any individual that desires to enter in any economic and financial transactions.

When most individuals have been issued with pan card it sometime reads "No records for provided details"

This is because initially there was no database to sustain records of the PAN number issued by the Central Board of Direct Taxes, with very limited information being recorded
