Hypertonic solution means solvent concentration is less compared to solute.

If you put a plant cell or animal cell in a hypertonic solution ,It will shrink.

Plant cell undergoes the process of plamolysis.

Create space between cell wall & plasmamembrane.

Shrinking of cell is due to the movement of water molecules from high concentration to low concentration.(osmosis).

Here cells have more water compared to solution which is hypertonic.

osmosis is basically used for water where it exlains the movement of water for a place of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration of water .

if a cell is kept in a hypertonic solution it will loose water to maintain equillibrium in environment and thus shrinks a process called plasmolysis

example of osmosis- keep kishmish in a bowl of water overnight due to hypotonic environment it will absorb water and thus swell up thus shows endoosmosis
