Physical Digestion- Mastication which means chewing of the food by the mouth teeth.

• It is also known as mechanical digestion.

• Teeth play an important role in the process.

• There is also a important role of lips and tongue which help in the chewing process.

Chemical Digestion- When when saliva is mixed with food particles is known as chemical digestion.

• In the Saliva there will be just 0.5% salt and 99.5% water is present .

• Salts may be organic or inorganic.

• Mucin, thiccynate, ptylin are the main examples of this salt.
