Polymerisation and its types:
- The process in which the large number of monomers combines to form a large polymer is known as Polymerisation.
Types:
- Linear Polymerisation
- Cross linked Polymerisation.
- The single molecules combine to form many chain is also determined as polymerisation.
- The small unit which makes the polymer are called monomers.
- Depending upon the type of linkage between the monomers there can be Linear or Cross-Linked polymerization.
- Linear Polymerization: In this type of polymerization, the individual monomers units are connected to each other in a linear fashion.
- Cross-Linked Polymerization: In this type of polymerization, the individuals monomers are connected in a cross-linked manner.
- Example:- Polyethene which is an polymer of ethylene.
