What is meant by primordial follice?​

Primordial follicle:- It is the Developing primary follicle. Initially some cells of the stroma become flattened and then surround a primary oocyte which is developed from oogonia.

These flattened cells ultimately form the ovarian follicle and are therefore called folicular cells. Now, the flattened follicular cells now become columnar. Follicles upto this stage of development are called primordial follicle.

the primordial follices are the first class of follices formed in mammalian ovaries and consist of oocyte surrounded by single layer of flatted granulosa cells . a small number of primordial follices are continuously activated to exit the ovarian reserve and being growing .
