we use hybridized orbitals for sake of providing geometry of specific geometric orbitals combining together which are not the same type as s and p joining to form a type of 'impure' sp hybridzed geometry exhibiting orbital shape. sp3 is the hybridization shape of orbitals pz py and px combining with s orbitals to form a geometrically hybrid orbital sp3. an example of sp3 is seen in CH4

ameydeshpande: sp3 is the hybridizing geometry when the last px py and pz orbital pair rooms combine with a s orbital each to form sigma bonds as in case of CH4

Hybridisation:−

=> It is the process of intermixing of the orbitals of slightly different energies resulting in the formation of new set of orbitals of equivalent energies and shape.

____________

☄sp hybridised:-

=> It involves the mixing of one s and one p orbital resulting in the formation of two equivalent sp hybrid orbits.

=> Example :- BeCl2 ,C2H6

_______________________________

☄sp2 hybridisation :-

=> It involves one s - orbitals and two p - orbitals to form three equivalent sp^2 hybridised orbitals .

=> Example :- BCl3 , C2H4

☄sp3 hybridisation :-

=> It involves one s - orbital and three p - orbitals to form four equivalent sp3 hybridised orbitals.

Example:- NH3 , H2O
