1.a Specific heat capacity is defined as the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of one kilogram of a substance by 1 kelvin ( SI unit of specific heat capacity J kg -1 K-1).
1.b Experiment to prove different substances have different specific heat capacities: take three balls of iron, copper and lead of equal mass and put them in boiling water for sometime...... this shows that for equal rise in temperature, the three balls have absorbed different amounts of heat .
