Surds are numbers left in root form (√) to express its exact value. It has an infinite number of non-recurring decimals. Therefore, surds are irrational numbers.

Hi,

Here is your answer,

If 'a' is a positive rational number which cannot be expressed as nth power of same rational number then the irrational number   \sqrt[n]{a}  or a¹/n ( the positive nth root of a ) is called a surd (or) radical. The symbol  \sqrt[n]{}  is called radical sign, n is the called the order of the surd (or radical) and 'a' is called radicand.

∛2 , ∛3,......... are the surds of the third order called cubic surds.  \sqrt[4]{5} , \sqrt[4]{7} are the sirds of 4th order or biquadratic surds.

Hope it helps you !
