⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⛔⛔⛔♦️♦️♦️Reducing and non-reducing ends of dugars are named so because reducing sugars contain free aldehyde (-CHO) or ketone (-CO) group which can be reduced to form a glycosidic bond. Examples of reducing sugars are all monosaccharides, maltose, lactose, etc.

Linkage between glucose and fructose units in sucrose, which involves aldehyde and Ketone group is responsible for the inability of sucrose to act as reducing sugar" Non reducing Sugar".
Sucrose is called as non reducing sugar because it does not reduce copper sulphate, so there is no direct test for sucrose.
