what is meant by the subsistence agriculture
Answers
Answer:
Subsistence Agriculture
It is a system of farming where the farmers grow crops and keep livestock for the needs of their families only. The land holdings are scattered and small and the farmers use primitive tools and methods of farming. As the farmers are poor, they do not use fertilisers and high yielding variety of seeds, generally facilities like electricity and irrigation are also not available to them. Most part of the production is consumed by the farmers and their families. Subsistence farming still exists in parts of Asia, Africa and Latin America. This system includes three types of agriculture practices - nomadic herding, shifting cultivation and intensive agriculture.
