Bond order is simply no of bonds between the pair of atoms...

so Nitrogen is connected by 3 bonds...so bond order would be 3

similarly,

O2 has 1.5 ...as (no of bonding electron - no of anti bonding electrons)

thus1/2 (10-3)

=1/2 ×3

= 1.5

Similarly using formula..O2- will have 2.5

(10–5)/2=2.5

o2+ will have 2.5 ..This can be explained by Molecular orbital theory
