A weak acid is an acid which on dissolving in water does not ionise completely and thus 1 mole of a weak acid produces less H+ ions in water.
Acetic acid is a weak acid because it does not undergo complete ionisation in water and thus 1 mole of acetic acid produces less H+ ions as compared to 1 mole of other strong acids.
